Arumbakkam, Chennai
A stage for every singer, every month of the year.
Every month the studio takes a theme and builds a whole evening around it. One month it is a tribute to a playback legend, the next it is a composer, a lyricist or a date on the calendar worth singing about. Singers pick their songs ahead of time, rehearse, and then take the mic in front of a room that is genuinely listening.
The point is preparation. A themed meet pushes you into repertoire you would never have chosen yourself, and that is exactly how singers grow ready for bigger stages.
Held once a month. Theme announced in advance on Instagram and WhatsApp.
Tribute to SP Balasubrahmanyam
September 2026It all started with a simple objective: **to identify in-house singers, bathroom singers and Smule talents who had passion and potential, but had never had the opportunity or structured training to perform on bigger stages and shows.**
Thus was born **“Studio2Stage2Shows”**—an intensive **8-month training project** designed to discover, develop and transform hidden singing talent into confident stage performers. The idea was not merely to teach them songs, but to **identify their potential, strengthen their musical abilities, build confidence and prepare them to face a live audience.**
The programme was planned as a month-on-month journey, with each month focusing on a different **theme, style or genre of singing**. Participants underwent **4-hour interactive learning sessions every month**, covering nearly eight different genres and styles, including: **Classical • Western • Melody • Retro • Folk • Devotional • Pathos • Peppy Numbers**
Along with learning and understanding each style, participants were given opportunities to **practice, experiment and perform on stage**, gradually learning how to adapt their voices and expressions to different genres and audiences.
The journey was therefore designed to move them progressively: **Studio → Training → Practice → Stage Experience → Confidence → Performance**
After completing the 8-month training programme, the participants have to underdo an additional **2 months of intensive online and offline rehearsals**, working with both karaoke and live orchestra arrangements to prepare them for a professional stage. The entire journey finally culminated in their debut stage show, **“Debut Delights”**—where these once-hidden talents got an opportunity to step out of their comfort zones, face a real audience and experience the joy of performing on a bigger stage.
**Studio2Stage2Shows was never just about learning to sing. It was about discovering the singer within, shaping the talent, building the confidence and finally giving that talent a stage.**
The first set of singers to take the mic in public for the first time.
About 10 singers were handpicked and sponsored by Studio7Strings based on their passion for music, personal circumstances and backgrounds. They became the pilot-project pioneers of an intensive 8-month Orchestra-based training programme called “Studio2Stage2Shows.” Of the 10 singers who began the journey, 9 successfully completed the entire training programme and were ready to step onto a professional stage.
The training was followed by nearly two months of intensive online and offline rehearsals, working with both karaoke tracks and a live orchestra. Finally, their efforts culminated in their debut stage show at Vani Mahal, Chennai.
For these singers, it was much more than a concert. It was an opportunity to break their own barriers, overcome stage fear, discover their confidence and truly utilize a professional stage. More importantly, their debut became a platform for giving back to society.
Through the show, we were able to contribute ₹80,000 towards the Gold Heart Foundation, while approximately another ₹20,000 was spent towards travel and food arrangements. Around 100 children of the Gold Heart Foundation, who came from different parts of Chennai, attended the programme. Watching the children enjoy, dance and celebrate along with the music made the entire experience a memorable treat not only for the performers, but also for the audience.
The programme was honoured by several distinguished personalities from the music, film, television, business and social-service communities, including:
Music Director S. R. Hari
Cinematographer Panneer Selvam
Playback Singer Reshmi George
Stage & Television Artist Vinod Venugopal
Suresh Krishnamurthy, India Cements Capital

Along with several other dignitaries and well-wishers.
Season two of first-time performers.
About 10 participants joined, from those who had already enquired post DD1 show, and a few other promising talents were added to the second batch. They started their intensive 8-month Orchestra-based training programme called “Studio2Stage2Shows.”

The training was followed by nearly two months of intensive online and offline rehearsals, working with both karaoke tracks and a live orchestra. Through the show, we were able to contribute ₹50,000 towards the Gold Heart Foundation, and another ₹50,000 towards the TGS Ashram while approximately another ₹20,000 was spent towards travel and food arrangements for 100 children of the Gold Heart Foundation, who came from different parts of Chennai, attended the programme.

The most recent season.
We opened the opportunity the third year to another group of 10 promising singers. The programme was structured as two sessions per month each of 4-hr duration with:
* 8 Karaoke-based learning sessions and 8 Orchestra-based rehearsal sessions
* Exposure to different genres and performance styles with practical preparation for live-stage performance
However, the journey was not without its challenges. There were several unforeseen hurdles along the way. A few participants experienced personal losses in their families, while others faced health-related difficulties. These circumstances eventually led to 6 participants dropping out at different stages of the programme. Of the 10 who began the journey, 4 successfully completed the entire training programme and emerged ready to step onto a professional stage.
Along with the new talents, senior students from the earlier Debut Delights seasons were brought in to support the journey—some contributing as backing-chorus singers and others helping mentor and encourage the new participants. This created a beautiful cycle of students becoming supporters, performers becoming mentors and experience being passed on to the next generation of talent.
For the third edition, we chose Kavikko Convention Center as the venue. The programme was eventually moved to March, as additional time was required for the extensive arrangements, rehearsals and coordination involving both the new talents and senior students from the previous seasons.
The show became much more than a debut platform. Alongside the performances, we had planned perform and release of an original album song Manidhame Meendu Vaa, composed and penned by founder Vijayalakshmi, orchestrated by Sathesh Marx and sung by selected students. As a surprise for the students and the audience, we also unveiled another important milestone—the launch of our own music band, “StringsofMadras,” along with its logo.
The band was conceived as an exclusive performance platform for promising students emerging from Studio7Strings, giving talented students an opportunity to continue performing together beyond their individual training programmes.
The spirit of service continued through the programme, with ₹50,000 contributed towards the Gold Heart Foundation received by Sri Priya, Founder, Gold Heart Foundation and certificates were award to performers by T. G. Shanmugam, Founder, TGS Orchestra & Ashram
What began as an effort to discover hidden singers was gradually becoming a larger journey to Discover → Train → Rehearse → Perform → Mentor → Create → Give Back
